One More Thing

Just because it's still funny!

Life Update

So I am officially done with winter semester! (as of Thursday evening) YAY!  I love being done with school.  Mainly for that instant stress relief.  Ever since school got out things have been amazing too!

After I finished my last test Thursday night,  which I'm pretty confident I aced ;], I zipped over to my place grabbed some things and then headed over to Midway to meet the family!  I love little family vacations!  I had a great time with the WHOLE family (a rarity these days for us all to be together).  Mike and Laci graduated and that was fun to go to as well.  Then we were all able to sit and relax in the condos, swim some, eat lots, and joke even more.  You know you're having a good time when security calls at 11:30 because they're "worried" about us.  No no, everything is fine, we're just really into this game! haha

This week has been pretty lazy.  It is my last week up in Utah for a while and I mainly stayed to work, but am only working like 3 days haha.

I had Monday and Tuesday off, so I decided that after 2-2 1/2 weeks I needed to get back on the Crossfit wagon.  Now I'm saying....OUCH!  I LOVE CROSSFIT, don't get me wrong, but boy o boy does it work me.  Just a little glimpse of what we've been doing lately.

Monday
Warm-Up
w/ partner (while one runs the other is doing something else)
200m run - air squats
200m run - crunches
200m run - air squats
200m run - crunches
Then after the warm up we had Strength
5x 5 Push Press
Then the WOD
4 Rounds
25 KBS (Kettle Bell Swings)
10 Strict Pull ups
400m run
I don't know what it was, but this killed me and I was probably the slowest one there, also I got confused and started doing a fifth round and didn't realize it until I got down to my 7th strict pull up on that set. DOH

Tuesday was a good day for me because I pushed myself in weight and I felt really good overall
Warm Up
400m run
15 yards of Toy Soldiers
10 Rapid Toe Touches
400m run
15 yards of Toy Soldiers
10 Air Squats
10 Rapid Toe Touches
Strength
7x2 Deadlift Linear
(Linear - which is no increase in weight, pick a weight and stick with it)
WOD
AMRAP 15 Minutes
AMRAP = As Many Rounds as Possible
10 Power Cleans
10 Butterfly Sit Ups
10 Hand Release Push Ups
I barely finished 6 rounds with 3 seconds left!

Today (Wednesday)
Worked until 4
(no breakfast and no lunch = terrible idea!)

When it came to Crossfit, I almost didn't go haha
Warm Up
2 Rounds
250m row
15 Hand Release Push Ups
10 Air Squats (5 second pause at lowered stage)
Tricep Rolls (1 Minute Each Side)
Strength
5x3 Front Squat (Linear)
WOD
4 Rounds
15 Goblet Squats (Squat with a 53lb kettle bell)
10 Games Standard Box Jump (Men 30" Women 24")
40 Double Unders

Anywho, I am seriously considering doing my first Half-Marathon as well as the Tough Mudder in October.

I will be moving back to Vegas for a bit this weekend (YAY!), but may have something else in store, but I'll get more into that as it comes nearer.

Big Changes are coming my way! What what.

Bahhhh....stereotyping..so funny!

So my friend just posted this on Facebook and I thought it was hilarious so I'm sharing it with you all.

I'm really against stereotyping, but I have come to the conclusion that the reason why stereotypical jokes are funny is because THEY'RE TRUE!

RAWWRRR

Okay...so this is how I feel today, but without a happy grin and more of a pained look from being sore.

Yeah, I'm still sore and I honestly have T Rex arms today because my biceps are so tense! I went to lift the toilet seat to pee and had to squat a little and bend over so my half bent T Rex arms could lift it open.  Yeah, it's bad haha.  Stupid pull ups are killing me!

And another thing.  DO NOT TRY AND DO ONE MORE BOX JUMP WHEN YOU KNOW YOU NEED A BREAK. Because if you do, you end up barely touching the sides of the box, slipping and rubbing the skin off your inner thighs and leave the weights on the box covered in a skin white powder.  Yes, ouch, haha. The pictures aren't that great, but they're pretty big bruises/rashes.

So unfortunately I did not go Crossfit yesterday or today. Stupid Work and School.  Why can't I just be a hood rat and do whatever I want all day.

Anyway, I'm kind of happy that I didn't go today. The WOD was "Death by Burpees".  Which I HATE!!

Crossfit Update

Just so you know....Crossfit is kicking my butt!!  It is sooo draining, but honestly amazing.  I am HOOKED!

Tuesday I went and we did this:
STRENGTH
Power Snatch + Snatch (full squat): 1x70%, 1x75%, 1x80%, + 3 - rest 75 sec.
WOD
30 Box Jumps 30/26"
30 T2B
(Toes to bar - hang like a pull up and try to get your toes up to the bar)
20 Push Press 95/65
30 Situps
20 Row for Calories
30 Alternating Weighted Pistols 25/15 - plate
(These things suck. Basically one legged squats. with your opposite leg straight out in front. Supposed to use a 25lb weight too, but yeah right haha.)
30 Box Jumps.

Yeah....it only takes about 14 minutes to get all of this done, but when you're done...you're spent.

Then yesterday I went again.
STRENGTH
5x1 Clean (full squat) & Jerk (split) @80-90% - rest 90 sec.
4x2 1&1/4 Front Squats - heavy, rest 60 sec
(the 1&1/4 sucked...you lift, squat, go up 1/4 of the way, squat down again then go up and then do it again.)
WOD
5 rounds for total working time of:
Sprint 400m
15 C2B Pullups
(Chest to bar pullups - yep, they're exactly what it says and they blow!)
*rest 2 minutes

I am still very sore haha. My abs, My arms, My Legs, My lats, I could go on on and, but mainly what this means is that it's working.

I also did calculated my caloric intake and how many calories I burn without doing anything. Just laying in bed all day I would burn 1900 calories.  So that means being active I should eat about 3,000 a day.  That's a lot!

Last Day of Foundations

Today was my last Foundations class :[.  Sad because I know the "easy going" workouts are all over, but I'm also a little pumped because the new classes are going to rock my world and take my fitness to that next level!

On a sad note, one of the coaches last day was Friday.  She's opening up her own Crossfit gym in Draper (So I may have to transfer there later, because she's awesome).  Even though it was her last day, she didn't go easy on us and seemed to enjoy herself (Proof in the picture below with her comment on the side of the page).

Yes that's me on the right trying not to pass out haha

This is Chelsea on the left (she has awesome shoes).
The dude in the middle is future me ;]

NEW ADDICTION!

CROSSFIT!!

So this is something that I found out about last year in late August/early September and have been wanting to start for a long time, but it's been WAY EXPENSIVE.  Usually around $150/month.  Yep...pricey!

Thankfully I have a roommate who's been looking out for some good deals and we found a 1 month membership for $50 including the foundations class (basic movements and technique).  All in all it's about $300 worth of classes and we got it for cheap.

I've only taken 2 out of the 3 Foundations classes and I AM HOOKED!!  It's amazing and I'm sore and tired and haven't even started the real workouts yet!

For those of you who have never seen Crossfit here are a couple of youtube videos to enlighten you.

Today for just our WOD (Workout of the Day) we did.
3 Sets of
200m Run
15 Squats (No weights)
10 Knees to Elbows (Hanging like a pull-up you bring your knee's to your elbows)
^You have to do all of this as fast as you possibly can.

Monday the WOD was
200m Run
25 Push Press (with 45lb) bar
25 Push Ups
25 Crunches (with a pad behind the back-touching hands to the ground above your head and at your feet)
then 15 Push Press
15 Push Ups
15 Crunches
10 Push Press
10 Push Up
10 Crunches
200m Run
(All of this as fast as you can)

Monday I got my butt kicked with the Push Press.  (where you grab a, in our case, 45lb bar and you lift it from the rack position just below your chin to above your head while giving your knees a nice little bend and sticking your butt out a little) I never realized that I've never really weight lifted before. Bench Press a handful of times and dumbbells here and there, but never squats, pushes, jerks, or anything overhead and let me tell you my shoulders were SPENT!

Excited to see what Friday and all next week brings to me.

I have taken before pictures and depending on results I may post them.

Also I am starting another picture blog on tumblr of pretty much everything that catches my eye.  Whether it's cars, bikes, clothes, hair styles, tattoos, art, architecture, interiors, random design, etc..

Just found this on Crossfit Sandy's Facebook page.
Yep that's me on the right doing push-ups like a weakling!
(although in my defense they are chest to the ground - hands up - push ups which get pretty tiring)

Ohhh Technology

I really can't wait until we have this kind of technology available.  Maybe not to the extent of all of this because it might take away from a lot of social aspects of life, but as far as for school, office and home convenience, yeah I'd say it's pretty awesome.

Also if this is what the new iPhone 5 will look like, I wouldn't be mad.

Good Seats

Tonight I went to the Jazz game with my roommate Jase and a couple of his friends.
It was my first ever NBA game and we got the seats from Jase's step-dad...I'd say they're pretty good.

3rd Row Center Court isn't too bad.  I could get use to seats like that. ;]

So It's Been A While...

So it's been a while since the last time I've posted.  Not that very much has happened, but just to catch you up on what's been going on.

Moved into my apartment.  It's pretty much great.

"The Living Room"

complete with....wait for it..."THE MAN CAVE!"
 :]
sparring equipment etc...it's pretty chill.

"The Dungeon"
Not really anything in here...just concrete floor, blank white walls and a pull string light.
It has been useful though...Tanner has put his old wheels in here, I use it to keep my snowboard gear in, and recently Tanner has been using it as his carpentry room to build his gf a dining room table.

"My Bathroom"...i know...that shower curtain is LEGIT

"My Room"

There's also Riley's room, Riley's bathroom, the kitchen, the laundry room, two closets, Tanner and Jase's bathroom, Tanner's room, and Jase's room, but I didn't feel like taking pictures of all of that.

Started the semester off with an awesome trip to Lake Powell

Our campsite was pretty legit. We had "The Blob", a bike ramp, a tube ramp, a party tent, tent city (where we slept) and about 10 or so wakeboard boats.  Fun would be an understatement

"The Blob"

"The Bike Jump"

I met a lot of really cool people.

This is Ashton.  I met her at Powellooza 2011 and we dated a couple of times.  It makes it hard when you live an hour and a half away so that has all kind of faded out  for a bit...we'll see what the future holds in store though.

Let's see...oh and sometime in October, I think, I got a job at Discount Tire.  Money....woot!

Here is a sample of what I hope to do to Pocahontas...aka the jeep. New wheels & tires.

Also in October my parents (Rob and Tam) and sister (Melissa) came up for conference.  It was my parents first time going to conference at the conference center so that was pretty cool to be able to be there.

Can't forget about Halloween.  This was Lysh and I's pumpkin (I know my grammar is probably way off)

Oh and I also became a baby daddy.....no worries...just to this little charm, Lily.

Snowboard Season started and I got a pass to Park City.

Too bad there isn't really much snow this year :[
.....yet...always hopefull.

This is random, but it's a sweet truck I saw up in Park city and a good view of the mountains behind it.  Someday I will own a truck similar to this one.

I just finished my second semester of college and I have to admit that most of my time went into my drawing class.  It wasn't that technical, but I still had a lot of fun.  Here are some pics of my projects.

"The Egg"

"The Paper Bag"

This one was unique...it was a 3 phase project starting with the pop can and it had to evolve into an abstract.
"The Abstract"

"The Shoe"

"The Surprised/Scared Face"

This one was to show first person perspective, but I didn't choose the BEST picture..fun though.
"Perspective"

This one was fun too.  It started by painting the paper with 3 colors of tissue paper and then you were to duplicate a black and white picture all in ink.  This took forever..20 hours or so!!
"Inked"

Lucky for me I really enjoyed that class and was able to get an A in it :]

After classes were done it was finally Christmas break and I had SO MUCH FUN!!  I love my family.  They're pretty much the most awesome people alive.....ever.

Matt made everyone HP wands for Christmas.  The first parcel I got only contained the note "You Are A Squib" which was largely disappointing because everyone else was getting wands and because it's not mentioned in the movies, so I had no idea what it even meant.  Good thing it was a joke and I got a pretty sweet wand.  Thanks again Matt!

Dad, Melissa, Mike and I also got to go up to Canada.  Don't you just love the prairie lands?

While we were there I was introduced to some of our Family Crests from my Dad's side of the family.  Grunewald is my grandma's maiden name and it had some really cool meanings to it.  Brandley came from my grandpas side and although I don't know what it means, it still looks pretty rad!

Oh..I also got a new shred stick for christmas! :]
Yay!! Bring on the fun!!

Also Tuesday and Thursday I made some changes to my room set up, got a desk and a chair and stole one of my roommates bean bag chairs.  I think it's a nice change.

FYI Ikea has some of the sweetest things I've ever seen..If only I had an unlimited budget to spend there.

Lastly, I have to admit that I have recently been seized by a new terrible addiction.

Pinterest....pinterest has recently consumed my time and energy.  Maybe this semester won't be as productive as I thought : 0
