Today was my last Foundations class :[. Sad because I know the "easy going" workouts are all over, but I'm also a little pumped because the new classes are going to rock my world and take my fitness to that next level!
On a sad note, one of the coaches last day was Friday. She's opening up her own Crossfit gym in Draper (So I may have to transfer there later, because she's awesome). Even though it was her last day, she didn't go easy on us and seemed to enjoy herself (Proof in the picture below with her comment on the side of the page).
Yes that's me on the right trying not to pass out haha
This is Chelsea on the left (she has awesome shoes). The dude in the middle is future me ;]
So this is something that I found out about last year in late August/early September and have been wanting to start for a long time, but it's been WAY EXPENSIVE. Usually around $150/month. Yep...pricey!
Thankfully I have a roommate who's been looking out for some good deals and we found a 1 month membership for $50 including the foundations class (basic movements and technique). All in all it's about $300 worth of classes and we got it for cheap.
I've only taken 2 out of the 3 Foundations classes and I AM HOOKED!! It's amazing and I'm sore and tired and haven't even started the real workouts yet!
For those of you who have never seen Crossfit here are a couple of youtube videos to enlighten you.
Today for just our WOD (Workout of the Day) we did.
3 Sets of
200m Run
15 Squats (No weights)
10 Knees to Elbows (Hanging like a pull-up you bring your knee's to your elbows)
^You have to do all of this as fast as you possibly can.
Monday the WOD was
200m Run
25 Push Press (with 45lb) bar
25 Push Ups
25 Crunches (with a pad behind the back-touching hands to the ground above your head and at your feet)
then 15 Push Press
15 Push Ups
15 Crunches
10 Push Press
10 Push Up
10 Crunches
200m Run
(All of this as fast as you can)
Monday I got my butt kicked with the Push Press. (where you grab a, in our case, 45lb bar and you lift it from the rack position just below your chin to above your head while giving your knees a nice little bend and sticking your butt out a little) I never realized that I've never really weight lifted before. Bench Press a handful of times and dumbbells here and there, but never squats, pushes, jerks, or anything overhead and let me tell you my shoulders were SPENT!
Excited to see what Friday and all next week brings to me.
I have taken before pictures and depending on results I may post them.
Also I am starting another picture blog on tumblr of pretty much everything that catches my eye. Whether it's cars, bikes, clothes, hair styles, tattoos, art, architecture, interiors, random design, etc..
